The research project ViRST - Virtual Reality in Speech Therapy Training, coordinated by Dr. Mascha Wanke and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Müller, aims to develop a virtual reality-based application that can be integrated into the academic curriculum of university speech therapy courses. The simulation-based system provides speech therapy students with different scenarios to support the acquisition and training of their practical skills. The paper presented at the INTED2025 conference gives a brief general overview of the ViRST project and illustrates in more detail the first steps to create, together with Media Education master’s students, a prototype of one of the training scenarios the team will develop in the future.
“Attending the INTED2025 conference was an enriching and inspiring experience that exceeded my expectations”, said Flavia Gentile. “The wide range of presentations from highly qualified experts in different fields provided me with invaluable insights and exposed me to innovative ideas, research breakthroughs and emerging trends”, so the young scientist. She reported, that each session focused on a specific topic and was an opportunity to expand her knowledge and gain a deeper understanding of the key issues shaping the future of education and technology. The opportunity to participate in interactive sessions allowed us to collaborate and put into practice the innovative approaches and methods guided by experts in their respective fields.
Gentile summed up her experience: “Beyond the presentations, one of the most rewarding aspects of the conference was the opportunity to network with professionals from diverse backgrounds. Engaging in discussions, sharing experiences and networking with peers allowed me to make meaningful connections that could lead to future collaborations. I look forward to future conferences that continue to bring professionals together to drive progress and excellence.”
