Knowledge Transfer

The transfer of education and knowledge at the University of Education Weingarten takes place through community-based research (CBR) projects. CBR projects are designed to link undergraduate studies, standard research and core areas of the Third Mission in order to advance socially relevant tasks - such as educational equity, gender equality, diversity, refugees, inclusion, media education, health issues, environmental protection, democracy, culture - of the Upper Swabia region. In this way, our university expands its core tasks in research and teaching and makes a significant contribution to the transfer of education and knowledge to society.

CBR differs from other projects in that it is a research-oriented project in which all actors - academic researchers (teachers and students), community partners and, if applicable, other stakeholders - work together in a participatory and collaborative manner at every step with the goal of being non-profit. Community partners can be disadvantaged groups, for example non-profit organizations such as educational institutions, organizations in the community (e.g. student support, psychological counseling centers), associations, the city administration, but also groups of people from civil society who have a common interest with regard to certain social, political, health or economic problems.
